Have you ever tried very hard to not procrastinate but somehow find yourself mindlessly switching from one platform to another?
Today I will help you turn your potential recruiter to a mindless procrastinator
Like you find it almost impossible to stop yourself from watching the next episode,
Your potential recruiter, would find his fingers slip through the greasy-dope LinkedIn profile he just landed on.
And ultimately, through no fault of his own, he is going to land on your DMs!
Not Insta Dms, you fool! The LinkedIn messages.
So, let’s grease up your LinkedIn Profile.
I will cover two things today:
3 step formula to Cracking LinkedIn Headline
4 step formula Strategically writing LinkedIn summary
LinkedIn Headline - Turn “umm.. nevermind” to “Hmm.. okay”
What is the LinkedIn Headline?
Before I talk about how to construct a LinkedIn headline
I must tell you why this is important
The keywords in your headline allow recruiters to help you locate on LinkedIn
For example, if a recruiter/employer searches Website Developer and you have used the Keywords “Website Developer” in your Headline, he will be able to view your profile in the search category.
PROOF: So, I searched two keywords: Software Developer and Influencer Marketer
This is what my search showed:
If you have never worked on your Headline but it still shows on your LinkedIn, it is because LinkedIn offers a default system where it sets your Headline as “Job Title at Company Y”
However, your Job Title or your company Name must not be what recruiters are searching for in their search fields.
So, you must optimize it with the right keywords so that you become visible on the search and to allow the recruiter to understand what you actually offer.
3 Step Formula to turning their Um.. Nevermind to Hmm.. Okay!
What are you offering or what do you aim to offer to these recruiters
Your key skill or specialization
What are you passionate about or Measurable Results you have accomplished
What are you offering or what do you aim to offer to these recruiters
Ahmed: I am looking for roles in Supply Chain and Logistics but I get offers for Marketing.
Dude, do you not get it. Whatever keywords you will use in your Headline, you will be searched through them.
Asma: So, I have been a Content Writer for 2 years and now I have switched to Copywriting. But I still get offers for Content Writing. I just don’t know what to do!
Honey, if you want to be a Copywriter, make sure it is a part of your Headline!
Takeaway 1: Mention the Title of the Job that you are actively seeking jobs for.
Your key skill or specialization
Ever heard of a phrase, “A friend to all, is a friend to none!” Do you believe it?
Well, I do.
And you will believe it too, if you look at it from a recruiter’s point of view.
Do not try to become the Jack of all trades.
Asma: I am a Copywriter, I write Ads, I write emails, I write product description. I can do literally anything, just hire me please please!
Believe it or not, you are coming off as needy, ready to accept any word thrown at you.
Niche down yourself. Find out what you do the best.
Ask yourself: What is your key skill? What do I do the best?
Asma: I specialize in Ads Copywriting
Hey girl, you’re learning now!
Takeaway 2: Mention your specialized skill or what you do best!
What are you passionate about or Measurable Results you have accomplished
If you are a beginner, you can begin with talking about your Passion.
For example: I am passionate about helping companies devise their marketing strategies and lock their prospects in real-time
If you have the prior experience, you can share the measurable results you have accomplished.
By measurable, I mean using numbers or percentages to wow the recruiter.
Notice, how this person has used:
15% Acos
within 60 days…. Profits 10X
This is what I am talking about!
Takeaway 3: Present your achievements in Numbers or Percentages
Squeezing the Takeaways into creating the perfect Headline

Limitations to LinkedIn Headline:
You can only write 260 characters
You must speak the truth and the truth should be verifiable!
You cannot overuse keywords in greed of being searched
Be specific!
LinkedIn Summary - Turn their Hmm.. Okay to Hmm.. Interesting
What is LinkedIn Summary?
Look, I beg you to not work on your LinkedIn profiles like you work on your CVs and Resumes.
This is your personal profile, it is not tailored for a specific job, unlike CVs/Resumes.
So, when a person lands on your profile, they are interested to know about you and your story as well as what you are offering.
So, your tone must not be formal, you can use an Informal Tone!
LinkedIn Summary helps you in 3 ways:
It enables you to showcase your personality or your story
It helps you to relate your personality or your story with your offer
It allows recruiters to learn about you
And finally, it helps you land on your Dream job!
So, let’s learn how to crack this LinkedIn Summary.
4 step formula to turn their Hmm Okay to Hmm Interesting
Attention grabber
Your story
Market yourself
A clear CTA
Attention Grabber
Yes, you are given the freedom to write 3000 characters
But it is the first 10-20 characters that hooks the reader to click on ….see more
What can you write to grab the reader, your profile visitor, or the recruiter to entertain them to read more?
Begin with a joke, quote, or a story.
For example, If you are a beginner…
So, this excites me to discover what did blah blah lead this person to? What was the incredible thing this person discovered?
So, I would click ….see more
If you are experienced, you can approach this strategically.
In my 5 year journey of being a Business Analyst, I learned 1 thing….
So, this person mentioned:
the keyword: Business Analyst
Years of experience: 5
the attention grabber: learned 1 thing in 5 years of experience
Brother, spill! What did you learn? Wait, was it something good or bad? I am looking for a Business Analyst, should I not hire them?
I mean, this provokes curiosity. This would definitely ensure that the recruiter clicks on ….see more
After they have clicked on ….see more, you need to tell them your story, your career journey.
Share your Unique Career Story
To navigate your answers, here are the questions you can use to create your story:
What were you doing before
What is your current job role
Why does your current role excite you
So, you need to learn how to play the before and after game.
If you are transitioning into a new career, you can talk about how the past responsibilities are helping you in your day-to-day current role activities!
You can see how this person has mentioned their daily routine as an email marketer, related past habits with current role, and exactly showed why he/she is passionate about their skill.
However, this may work if you are a beginner.
If you are more experience, you need to be a little more sophisticated.
Highlight your career achievements and key skills
Dude, learn to brag about yourself in a unique yet humble manner
Do not guilt yourself, where else would you showcase your achievements?
Here you can present your “Measurable Results” in bullet forms like:
I helped 10x my client’s sales through XYZ
I closed 7/10 leads
I built an email list from scratch to 10,000 subscribers in 30 days (notice I didn’t use in a month)
So, present them in bullets so that it is easier for the recruiter to understand what you can do for them.
Make sure you are using the right keywords!
If the recruiter is perusing through your profile, looking for the matching Keywords from the Job description in front of him, you should be able to clear the test!
Lastly,
Clear CTA
Are you one of those who put up this unapproachable face all day long in public?
Don’t do that on your LinkedIn profile
Be as approachable as possible, as available as possible.
So, feel free to:
Ask them to DM you
Ask them to email you (don’t forget to mention the email!)
There you have it!
Ye kar daala tu life jhinga laala.
Honestly, doing these two things:
Creating the right headline
Creating the Right Summary
will push employers to chase you, rather than you seeking them out!
You will receive more messages than you deliver! Trust Me!
In the last email, I taught you to Optimize your :
Profile Picture
Banner
URL

In the next email, I will tell you how you can turn their Hmm Interesting to “OMG, I found the right person!”
I hope you learned something today…
