Like Adnan Bhai said, you need 5 Technical skills to ensure your success in the field. The 5 skills to develop during your learning stage:
i) Excel
Even if you are at a School-level, you must learn it. At the level of an aspirational Data Analyst, you must deep-dive.
Why? Because this is one of the most used Data Analysis software!
ii) SQL
To put it simply, SQL is used to communicate with a database, resulting in ease of data storage and retrieval.
PS. it is definitely better than communicating with humansš
iii) Power BI
Here, you would be able to do so many firms a huge favor!!
How? You would make interactive dashboards that display reports or a complex statistical data in a manner that a non-tech savvy individual can understand.
iv) Data Visualization
Remember the pro-active skill Adnan Bhai mentioned in āBecome a Data Analystā Reel on Instagram? This is where it comes to playā¦
Basically, by looking at graphs/charts, your creativity and pro-activeness will assist you in identifying the trends and patterns.
v) R (Programming Language)
Basically, this language will help you to read and interpret complex data and later explain it to people in a simpler manner.
2. Work on Projects
After acquiring certificates in any of the above-mentioned areas, if you go for an entry level job interviewā¦
All kidding aside, you would be laughed at!
Why? Because Data Analysis is a practicable field, unless you donāt support your certificates with a hint of work or project experience, your job closing rate will be very low!
3 things Adnan Bhai asked you to do:
Go to Fiverr, Upwork, or Freelancer and take up small projects.
Prepare a public profile on Tableau and showcase your work
Go to Kaggle, where multiple Data Analysis related projects are available that you can work on.
After completion of the projects, present your work on your LinkedIn profiles and your Resume.
Bonus Tip: You can even try to implement your learning at your current job or Business.
For example, you own a General Store. You can use your Power BI skill to prepare a dashboard that exhibits your inventory units, sale of goods, Accounts Payable, etc.
3. Apply for that Job!
With spoonfuls of efforts and a pinch of project experience, you have now become an aromatic sizzling Data Analyst!
Ahan! But before we talk about you sitting all suited in front of an interviewer..
Letās first discuss, how to get you that interview, shall we?
Same old tip - Networking and attending conferences.
As I mentioned āLinkedIn Profiles,ā please consider it your oxygen during the job hunt!
Build your LinkedIn profiles, send connections to relevant people from your field, and engage with their contentā¦
With the network, the content you put up in Point no.2 will be able to reach your potential recruiters, thereby, increasing your chances of landing on a job!
