Before I kick-start this LinkedIn Email series part 4, I wanted to thank the 200+ people who have joined my Email List in this past month. So, if you are reading this email and have not subscribed yet, please do the needful!
So, by now you should have completed your LinkedIn Profile.
Here is what we have covered so far, we learned to setup:
LinkedIn Profile Picture
LinkedIn Banner
Headline
Summary
URL
Work Experience
and a few Settings
If you have still not done it, feel free to access my previous emails covering these topics..
If you still don’t want to do it, I suggest you leave this email right now!
Now that your profile is set up, you might consider reaching out to Potential Recruiters or even people from within your field just for the sake of networking.
You never know who you might be able to WOW!
Just as a man of a desi household becomes marry-able, his mother reaches out to Potential Bahus or network with people who help her find the one.
Her message is quite well crafted like:
“The girl should be a doctor, fair in complexion, tall in height, knows chores well, should be able to cook anything my son wants…”
I mean look how concise is it, look how it is targeting a hyper targeted audience (Fair, Tall, sughar Doctor)
However, his mother fails to focus on the girl’s needs, only talks about what her son is looking for, and NOT about how her son could make the girl’s life easy!
So, learning from these mistakes, you and I will craft a dope message that ensures networking!
Crafting a perfect cold message
1. Format Format Format!
Prepare a short and concise message
Do not try to expand on how great you are
Ideally a 100 words should work
All while ensuring one-liner sentences
Look above to see what I mean by one-liner sentences^
2. Focus on Hyper Targeted Audience
If you have been sharing those generic cold messages that say, “ Hey, I am xyz who is hoping to connect with you to learn more about abc…”
I swear to God, I will puke.
You are talking to 1 person
You will solve 1 of their problem
You have 1 solution for them
Don’t try to sell all your services to one single person
In hope that they may actually hire you for one thing if not the other…
To understand or to learn about their pain points, you would need to
follow them,
peruse through their profile,
see where they’re lacking,
and think of a unique way you can bring change and value to them.
1 Problem + 1 service = 1 solution
Make sure you highlight that Problem or the pain point strategically!
3. You Before Me
Act like you care about their pain point, empathize with their struggles.
Show that you are putting them before yourself.
Talk about their interests, anything that can grab their attention!
They are selfish.
They don’t care who you are and what you do.
So, if you are thinking about starting your message like, “Hey, I am a Digital Marketer who does xyz..” You know what they’re thinking about you.
This should be easy considering we’re Muslims,
We first greet and send blessings
Empathize with them after asking how they’re doing
Suggest a few Spiritual Healing in the form of Dhikr or Salah
Invite them to a Dawah or for a cup of tea
Follow the same format,
Hey Kelly, glad to connect with you.
I gather that you have been struggling with finding the right promotional platforms for your brand, stunting your brand growth… I understand how demotivating it could be, which is why we should chat.
I help businesses find the right influencers and media platforms, with a conversion rate of 35%, boosting brand growth by 45% in under a month.
If you think you need this right now, let’s hop on a call. Let me know, what day and time is convenient for you.
4. CALL TO ACTION
If you think you need this right now, let’s hop on a call. Let me know, what day and time is convenient for you.
This line is a perfect candid Call To Action, prompting them for a call, and you are asking them about their availability without wasting the time to first connect and then do the scheduling!
Exactly communicate the steps they need to follow after reading your message.
The 4 pieces above make your perfect not so cake-y message to make the reader picture you as a human, who is not sending copy pasted texts to everyone!
But wait…
Do not send the message, yet.
Did you first view their profile? Did you like and comment on their posts? Did you make them feel you have seen not one, not two, but at least 5-10 of their posts before messaging them?
If you said YES to all of the questions above, now click SEND!
I mean, didn’t you compare your profile with theirs?
You liked 5-10 of their posts, how many posts do you have? None!?
Oh, good God!
Hold on to that send button for now, I will come back next week
Spilling all the LinkedIn Tricks to posting the right way!
Until then,
